It is an exhilarating moment when the arrow hits the mark. It may appear as a simple act though I would argue it is a very complex and difficult skill. Target chosen. Drawing back. Holding steady against the wind. Seeing through the glare and the shadows to a specific spot. Executing a smooth release. Watching the fletching track through the air and make impact on the specific point chosen. The ring on the target defining a score, or perhaps practicing for a successful harvest during the autumn hunt.
Crested Butte Mountain Resort offers the perfect setting for a 3D archery event that will both test archers in the competitive arena and help prepare those who take their skills to field this fall in search of wild game. The course covers mountainous terrain and the elk, deer, bear, and coyotes that make up the targets fit in perfectly with the landscape. The shots are fun and demanding with uneven stances, tight corridors, changing wind and many other elements that accompany this outdoor sport. It is an excellent way to spend the day with family working on a skill in a beautiful setting or set some friendly wagers with your groups of hunting friends.
All paths lead to a great experience that supports the CBMR Archery Course and the West Elk Archers club based in Gunnison.
