Top 5 Things I love About Being New to CB

Crested Butte Mountain at Night

Crested Butte is a beautiful little town with a big personality and a lot of charm. I moved here looking for a change of pace from the east coast city lifestyle and that’s exactly what I got. There are a lot of things that I’ve already fallen in love with but here are my top five.

1. Living in the Mountains

The mountains are at your doorstep here in Crested Butte. During the winter, there’s nothing better than rolling out of bed, throwing on your ski gear and heading to the lift in just minutes. During the summer, there are so many trails to explore, you never get bored. Getting outside to some fresh mountain air is easy here.

2. The People

It doesn’t take long to meet some wonderful, interesting people in Crested Butte. People here are friendly, welcoming and happy to recommend their favorite spots in town or tell you a story about an adventure they had. When you meet a local, make sure to ask them about their favorite après spot or must-sees in Crested Butte.

3. Elk Avenue

Not only is Elk Avenue full of fun bars, delicious restaurants and great locally owned shops, but it also is very picturesque. Make sure to take a stroll down Elk when you’re in Crested Butte to see the beautiful historic buildings, the colors and the mountain views in the background.

4. Endless Adventure

Even if skiing or snowboarding aren’t your thing, there is still a lot of adventures to be had in Crested Butte. Take a ride through the air on Crested Butte Mountain Resort’s Zipline Tour, catch some live music at the Crested Butte Center for the Arts, take a horseback ride or sleigh ride with Fantasy Ranch Horseback Adventures or go on a cross-country ski or snowshoe adventure at the Crested Butte Nordic Center, amongst many other activities.

5. The Free Bus

You can get all around Crested Butte in the free town buses and, yes, it’s 100% free. The shuttle runs between CB South and Mount Crested Butte with stops along the way. Not having to worry about driving and parking makes getting around town even easier.
